When Postmaster General Louis DeJoy appeared before the House Oversight Committee in August, he vowed under oath he wouldn’t institute any policy changes at USPS until after the election. The very next day, he decided that USPS police can no longer investigate mail theft despite a recent rise in mail thefts across the country, including in California.

Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14) and six of her colleagues have called on the USPS Inspector General to launch an investigation into PMG DeJoy's decision and what, if anything, he is doing to address the recent spike in thefts.
