Congresswoman Jackie Speier Denounces President’s Disparaging Remarks Against Former FBI Director James Comey
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo) released the following statement in response to reports that the President disparaged former FBI Director James Comey during his May 10th meeting with Russian officials at the White House.
“I am stunned that the President would call the former FBI Director a nut job. Regardless of how one thinks of Mr. Comey's leadership, he has dedicated his life to public service as a Deputy Attorney General, a US Attorney, and the Director of the FBI,” said Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14). “Mr. President, you are no Jack Kennedy or James Comey. You demean the Office of the Presidency by casting aspersions like that at hardworking public servants. Linking Director Comey's firing to the Russia investigation is more than troubling.”
