San Mateo, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14) will host “A Pathway to Citizenship” with representatives from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the San Mateo City Hall Chambers. The event is for permanent residents interested in becoming U.S. citizens and will provide information about the process, including language requirements, compliance with the law, application forms, fees, and fee waivers.
“In the United States, some nine million individuals are eligible for citizenship, yet only about ten percent a year become naturalized,” Speier said. “Attaining citizenship is a long and labor intensive process, but it results in tremendous security, pride, and peace of mind. At this event we will provide the tools our hard-working residents need to overcome the last hurdles of becoming an American.”
Rep. Speier will be joined by Susan Siao and Anne Bloomberg from USCIS who will walk through the application process and also conduct a mock interview.
