SAN MATEO, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo) will hold a press conference with Calibowl founders Jeff Bollengier and Rich Stump at her Make it in America Exhibit at the San Mateo County Fair on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 11 a.m.
Speier stated, “Jeff Bollengier and Rich Stump teamed up to create a product that is American through and through. Their spill-proof plastic bowls are made in California from 100% recycled American materials. The two founders are so dedicated to our economy that they moved their manufacturing process from China to the U.S. Their initial idea has evolved into a company that has created local jobs.” Calibowl and its subcontractor currently have 22 employees and expect to grow to 30-35 by the end of this year.
The United States is the world’s largest manufacturing economy, producing 21% of the all globally manufactured products compared to 15% produced by China and 12 % produced by Japan. American manufacturing accounts for 11.7% of GDP and is valued at $1.7 trillion. Twelve million Americans and over 1.6 million Californians are employed in manufacturing.
The exhibit at the San Mateo County Fair will be open Saturday, June 9 from 10a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 10 from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
