San Mateo, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA14), California Assemblyman Kevin Mullin and San Mateo County Supervisor Carole Groom will host more than 700 seniors for the 30th annual Seniors on the Move conference on Friday, November 17, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the San Mateo Event Center.
Keynote speakers will be KTVU anchor Frank Somerville and San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe. Topics will range from avoiding scams to driving smart to dealing with depression and eating well. The conference will include entertainment by the Mercy High School choir and an exercise session with Paralympic Games U.S. representative Nathan Perkins.
“I have to pinch myself to remember that I started this wonderful gathering in 1987 in memory of my grandmother who had just passed away,” Speier said. “I was a newlywed and just pregnant with my son, I was serving in the California State Assembly, Ronald Reagan was president, and the very first episode of the Simpsons cartoon aired on the brand new Fox Television Network. I’m thrilled to celebrate the 30th anniversary with more than 700 vibrant seniors from the Bay Area.”
