WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14), Ranking Member on the House Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations and Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence today issued a statement in support of a bipartisan congressional investigation into the Intelligence Community’s findings that Russian hackers used cyberattacks to interfere in the American political process.

“The duty of federal government is to safeguard the American people and our democracy from all attacks, including those that come in the form of cyber espionage,” Rep. Speier said. “That is why I and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle are fighting for a bipartisan congressional investigation into the Intelligence Community’s finding that the dangerous and deceitful interference by the Russians has impacted our political process. The American people deserve a complete and full accounting of what has occurred and Congress must uphold its duty to protect our national security.”
