San Mateo, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14) will host a town hall, titled “A Conversation about America: America’s Working Class” with Hastings College of the Law Professor Joan Williams on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Skyline College Theater in San Bruno. Williams’ most recent book is White Working Class: Overcoming Class Cluelessness in America and she has been described by New York Times Magazine as having “something approaching rock star status” in her field.

“Professor Williams skillfully dissects the anatomy of American society and explains the role class plays in our political and economic landscape,” Speier said. “If you ever wondered whether we in the Bay Area live in bubble, this town hall is for you. Williams demystifies the complicated relationship between the working class and the professional elite, a relationship we must understand to heal the political divide in our country.”

This will be the 14th in an ongoing series of town halls hosted by Speier since Donald Trump became president. Previous town halls have been held in San Francisco, San Mateo, South San Francisco, Pacifica, Half Moon Bay, and Redwood City.
