San Mateo, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo/Redwood City) will hold a free informational event about women’s economic advancement featuring Redwood City City Council Member and former mayor Alicia Aguirre at the Onetta Harris Community Center in Menlo Park on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10 a.m.

“Economic inequality is one of the most pressing issues of our time,” Speier said. “Women still make only 77 cents for every dollar a man makes for the same work and two thirds of minimum wage workers are women. Women must be an equal part in the equation to America’s success.”

Attendees of Speier’s event, “Start strong 2014!” will have access to resources helping them with financial security, food and nutrient, child care, job training programs, housing and worker rights.
