San Mateo, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14) will host a town hall about airplane noise and its impact on health and the quality of life on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 7 p.m. at the Skyline College Theater in San Bruno. She will be joined by Peter J. Kirsch, partner in the aviation law firm of Kaplan Kirsch & Rockwell. He and his firm represented the Phoenix Airport in their winning lawsuit against the FAA regarding new RNAV flight paths. Also joining Congresswoman Speier will be Ivar C. Satero, San Francisco International Airport Director and former airline pilot Captain Kathleen Wentworth. The FAA has been invited to the event.

“The relentless bombardment of airplane noise has serious impacts on the health of my constituents—especially at night.” Speier said. “Residents tell me that their babies are awakened, their young children are frightened, their school-age children are not getting the much-needed sleep to enable them to learn in school the next day, and the adults are sleep-deprived, physically exhausted and sometimes emotionally distraught by being awakened multiple times each night. There are solutions to this unbearable assault on our ears and our sleep; we need the FAA, the airlines and SFO to hear our voices.”
