San Mateo, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14) today shared a breakthrough announcement by USPS and the City of Foster City of a location for a new post office next to city hall that is scheduled to open on September 15, 2018. Foster City has been without a post office since January 31, 2018 due to the expiration of the old post office’s lease. Since then, USPS and the city have been working on finding a new location. In April, Assistant City Manager Dante Hall reached out to Rep. Speier’s office to assist in the process.
“We’ve worked closely with Foster City and USPS to expedite the opening of a new post office, an essential service that Foster City residents rely on,” Rep. Speier said. “I am relieved that the search is finally over, construction will begin immediately, and that the new post office – which will be located right next to city hall - is scheduled to open in six weeks. I would like to thank Foster City’s residents for their patience and commend the postal service and city staff for their perseverance during this trying time. I look forward to the grand opening.”
