WASHINGTON DC - In a speech on the House floor, Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo) called on the military to revisit the case of Lt. Col. James Wilkerson, who was convicted of sexual assault by a jury of officers, but ultimately exonerated by a single general.
“Today, I’m demanding real justice. The Air Force needs to redeem itself. I call on the Air Force to convene an Involuntary Discharge Board. For Wilkerson’s gross misconduct, the Secretary of Air Force should also do a grade determination and demote Wilkerson to his rank at the time of his first offense. I have sent a letter to the Secretary demanding these actions. Twenty-Five of my colleagues in the House have joined me and signed that letter.”
