SAN MATEO, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo) will hold a press conference with Gordon Biersch founder Dan Gordon at her Make it in America Exhibit at the San Mateo County Fair on June 9, 2012 at 11 a.m.
Speier stated, “The story of Gordon Biersch is a classic example of the American Dream, a story of innovation, entrepreneurship and success. Dan Gordon and Dean Biersch had the vision of a place where people could drink a freshly brewed beer and have a good meal. In 1988, they opened their first restaurant in Palo Alto. Today, Gordon Biersch is the largest brewery in the Bay Area that ships to 19 states and employs 50 people. Gordon Biersch is making it in America!” Gordon Biersch has the capacity to brew 3.1 million gallons of beer per year.
The United States is the world’s largest manufacturing economy, producing 21% of the all globally manufactured products compared to 15% produced by China and 12 % produced by Japan. American manufacturing accounts for 11.7% of GDP and is valued at $1.7 trillion. Twelve million Americans and over 1.6 million Californians are employed in manufacturing.
The exhibit at the San Mateo County Fair will be open Saturday, June 9 from 10a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 10 from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
