San Mateo, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14), Assemblyman Kevin Mullin (District 22,) and San Mateo County Supervisor Carole Groom (District 2) will host the 32nd annual On the Move Conference for 750 seniors on Friday, November 22nd, 2019 at the San Mateo Event Center. The keynote speaker will be Michael Krasny, host of KQED’s Forum, author, and Professor at San Francisco State University.

“I am excited to have one of the most brilliant minds in the Bay Area joining us for my annual conference designed to educate, entertain and inspire seniors,” said Rep. Speier. “Michael Krasny will share anecdotes from his remarkable career about gaining wisdom. We will also challenge the way we are thinking about aging with our timely theme “Reframing Aging.”

In the spirit of this year’s theme, the conference name “Seniors on the Move” has been changed to “On the Move.”

“We have been conditioned to think aging is something to be avoided, afraid of, or reversed,” said Assemblyman Mullin. “Yet even as we recognize aging is inevitable, how we think about aging is entirely within our control. I am delighted to join my colleagues and friends, Congresswoman Jackie Speier and Supervisor Carole Groom for another outstanding conference.”

“One thing we know for sure is that the seniors in this area want to remain independent by keeping their minds and bodies active, and by staying engaged in managing their own affairs,” said Supervisor Groom. “I am certain that our outstanding lineup will leave our seniors inspired, informed, and entertained.”
