Washington, DC – Congresswoman Jackie Speier (CA-14), Chair of the House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee, will conduct a hearing starting at 1 p.m. today focused on the Fort Hood Independent Review Committee report. Spurred by the Army’s botched response to the disappearance and murder of SPC Vanessa Guillén and several other slain soldiers’ cases, the report was released today by the Secretary of the Army. It includes damning details of the breadth and depth of the problems related to sexual assault and sexual harassment at Fort Hood, as well as many more issues that threaten troop morale and readiness at the base. Chair Speier and other Members of the Subcommittee will discuss the report’s findings and the recommendations with the outside experts who served on the Independent Review Committee.
For press planning to cover the hearing, it will be broadcast live on C-SPAN3, C-SPAN radio and https://www.c-span.org/.
For press planning to attend the hearing, Chair Speier will be available for questions immediately afterward
