San Mateo, CA - Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo counties) will host a seminar for business owners who are interested in building or growing their small businesses on Friday, May 20, 2016, 9 am – 12 pm at the Oracle Conference Center, 350 Oracle Parkway in Redwood City.

“Small businesses are truly the backbone of California's economy,” Speier said. “In fact, 99 percent of all California companies are small businesses and they employ 6.7 million people - that is almost 50 percent of California's workforce. The continued growth and success of these businesses is vital for the prosperity of our state and our country, yet the path to success is not always clear and business owners face many challenges along the way. This seminar is designed to give them tools and skills to succeed.”

Speier and Small Business Administration District Director Mark Quinn will speak at the event that will feature three panel discussions on the topics of alternative sources of capital, networking and marketing, and cybersecurity and data protection. Pre-registration for this event through Eventbrite is required.
